Ok so what is a "swollen battery"/ My apple watch face came off except tied with charging cable last night. Tech support estimate cost of $199. Isn't this a product failure and should be at no or a very limited cost???

These are not from Apple: they are scams - do not follow any links or telephone numbers, and definitely don't give them any money. Apple will never send out emails like this. All messages from Apple will address you by name, not 'Dear Customer' or similar or your email address, and will come from the apple.com domain.
You could forward these messages as email attachments to Apple at reportphishing@apple.com

Hi
I'm afraid that no-one here can tell you what Apple will decide in your specific case or alter any decision that has already been advised to you. You are not talking to Apple here - this is a user-based technical support community.
Apple Watch is not user-serviceable and Apple does not offer a screen repair or screen replacement service for Apple Watch.
If the issue is not covered under warranty or any other Apple policy - be sure to ask, with reference to potential battery swelling issues - then your Apple Watch may instead be eligible for replacement via chargeable, out-of-warranty service (or via AppleCare+, if previously purchased).
Contact Apple Support (mail-in service may be available, if required), make a Genius Bar reservation or visit an Apple Authorised Service Provider to arrange for your Apple Watch to be inspected and to establish your available service options:
In the meantime, note that Apple advises that you should not continue using a damaged Apple Watch.

To speak with someone in support, like if you call 1-800-MY-APPLE is free of charge if you're within that 1-year Apple Limited Warranty. I would give them a call and see if they can help you, or swing by your local Apple store or AASP (Apple Authorized Service Provider) and talk to them in person.

Only the carrier that locks the iPhone can officially unlock, not Apple or anyone.
Ask them and if you qualify.

Thanks for the information. I do have the original documents, but did not have to use them. I tried many passwords and finally I was given some hints. Eventually what worked was my original user name and password used on that computer. Everything works now.

For my part, my iMac running El Capitan is working great and as such I intend to leave well alone for as many years as possible. It's just unfortunate that in doing so I'll be on my own from this coming autumn.
It is possible to live on an older release if you
- Be careful of what software you download and install (reliable trusted sources)
- Use a 3rd party web browser that is updated with the latest fixes. They will eventually stop supporting your platform, but you can get more years out of it (for example, you can still get Firefox ESR for Snow Leopard 10.6 (or at least until April 2018). It is the web browser that is the most likely vector for attacks as it allows 3rd party javascript to run on your computer.
- I would say be careful of what web sites you browse, but since many banner Ads include Javascript, and most web sites use an advertising agency to get their Ads, even a big time web site can get a bad actor Ad served on one of their web pages.
- Do NOT fall for phishing email and browser popups.
- web browsers and email cannot see into your computer to detect a virus, so do not call the 1-800 number or "Click Here".
- it is unlikely you made that purchase the email says has a problem, so do not "Click Here" or call the 1-800 number.
- Make sure you have good passwords. Longer and easier to remember is better than short and complicated. Length matters when someone is trying to brute force a password. <GRC's | Password Haystacks: How Well Hidden is Your Needle? >
- Do not reuse passwords for any website, computer system, etc... where there is any value and/or they have your credit card/personal information.
- Use a password manager (1Password and LastPass are 2 well respected password managers)
There is most likely other good advices for living on an old operating system, but those should get you started.

Nope. Mice and Trackpads are not in the cards for the iPad... because there is no cursor in iOS, nothing for a mouse or track pad to move around on the screen. It would take a major re-write of iOS to support pointing devices and Apple has shown absolutely no interest in doing so. There’s only the Apple Pen that may come to more iPads in the future.
