I had to restart the computer for the first time after it worked flawlessly for hours after migrating my info to the new MacBook.

Which computer was restarted?  new or old

Now I have no way to access or mount the hard drive as my password doesn’t work (and no it isn’t the password I’m 100% sure because I just reset it after migrating, and I tried every old password I’ve ever had and nothing)

Which computer? new or old

If you 100% sure, why are you trying other passwords?

when trying to install a new MacOS/mounting the hard drive so it’s bootable/doing anything with the internal drive at all.

May be the filesystem got messed up.

There are no owners listed for the drive,

How did you determine this?

which means no admin on the computer can access the drive.

No.  You can look at what is on the drive from the terminal or you can change the permissions to let the admin look around from finder.

I’ve tried everything from using the terminal commands associated with this problem to trying to wipe the computer.

What is "everything"?

None of this is possible because as I found through terminal, the drive is not bootable and it seems like a password does not even exist for the drive.

Therefore it is encrypted and inaccessible.

how do you know the drive was encrypted?  Could be a bad filesystem.

This has been going around especially with High Sierra.

This might give you some hints about reformatting the drive.

Resetting the SMC is used to get rid of preconceived notions, and make certain all hardware is correctly recognized for what it is right now, including the battery. It is perfectly appropriate to do any time you even think you might have a problem, whether you actually do or not. It does no harm.

lets see if anything pops up.

What Windows Software do you have installed ?

I'm also feeling several other things still going on...

Try this, but BE VERY CAREFUL HOW & WHAT you Share = Because there can and will be

PERSONAL details and such that you should not be made known public. But there's a lot of reports to mull through, anywhere form 10-30 or so Meg of data... it will take some time to run... a finder window with the compressed file should open when complete, you can drag it anywhere for review.

Open Terminal

sudo sysdiagnose –f ~/Desktop/

You can also Open Console and make system logs there too. You could have anything from a password saver to a Safari extension like an adblocker giving problems.

AGAIN, make sure ALL Not Original APPLE installed apps are OFF and unassociated with your environment. And some, are sly and stealthy too, and they can be running portions in the background. Clear all website data & extension off.

If @ some point you should so happen to get the settings into a mess & have not figured what to do,

sudo pmset restoredefaults

That said, There can still be an underlying reason they keep changing even after THAT. And if you read the MAN doc on PMSET - you will see that multiple of these settings are all tied together - Beware.

Hello jdcollins2,

Thank you for using Apple Support Communities. It's my understanding you'd like to use Target Display Mode with your iMac but need to know what cable to use. I'm happy to help.

You will need to use a Thunderbolt cable or Mini Display Port cable for Target Display Mode. Please review the link below for additional steps and information:

Possible (Apple can do it of course) and there are aftermarket battery kits available.  But this is one of the craziest looking battery setups I’ve ever seen.  Well, maybe not as crazy as the 12”MacBook with the terraced lobe setup, but still glued to the case As several connected segments.

MacBook Pro 13" Retina Display Late 2013 Battery Replacement - iFixit

It needs either an adhesive remover or a heat source (like a heat gun) to remove the glue.  The battery itself is cheap though - even cheaper than the non-retina MBP.  But the labor to do it is something else, as well as the risk of damaging something with adhesive remover or a heat gun.

No.  That vintage of MBP has some sort of nonstandard use of the PCIe interface.  Only OWC and Transcend have aftermarket SSDs that are known to work, and they do it as 240/480 GB.  None of the Apple models with replaceable SSD cards (as opposed to 2.5" SATA) are known to boot internally with commodity SSDs like the Samsung you're looking at.  The card is also kind of shorter but fatter.

It's just the JetDrive 720/725 and OWC Aura 6G/6G Pro.  The Transcend has a 960 GB, while the Aura 6G goes up to 1 or 2 TB.
