You can copy photos and documents via a computer's iTunes to your iPad e.g. photos and videos to the Photos app : Keep your photos safely stored and up to date on all of your devices - Apple Support ; and documents : About File Sharing on iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch - Apple Support (not all apps support file sharing, some use transfer via your wifi network, dropbox, email)

Hi drdimento,

Thanks for using the Apple Support Communities. If you are having issues getting your Pages documents to sync correctly between your iPad Pro and your MacBook Pro via iCloud, you may want to double-check the settings and steps outlined in the following articles:

Pages for iOS (iPad): Use iCloud with Pages
Pages for Mac: Use iCloud with Pages
Pages for iCloud: Sync a document across your devices

Regards.

Open iCloud preferences and uncheck the iCloud Drive option in the right side list of options. Or click on the Options button on the right of the item in the list, then uncheck the topmost option. Do this if you want to keep iCloud Drive.

Hi. You need a file manager. Take a look at FileExplorer and Documents6. They will let you manage local files this way. And certainly, FileExplorer can directly interface with your cloud services. You'll still have to share  a document to an app to edit it, and share it back to update.

Did you create a backup using iCloud or iTunes before you did the upgrade/update?

You should do a backup of your iDevice before each and every iOS upgrade/update.

Good afternoon Sblau,

Welcome to the Apple Support Communities!

I understand you have files saved on iCloud Drive when you intended to save them on your iPad.  It sounds like you enabled iCloud Drive in the Settings app.   You can control which apps can save documents to iCloud Drive.  Turn off any apps that you don't want to use with iCloud Drive.  If you do not wish to save anything on iCloud Drive, you can turn that feature off completely.

Whenever you choose the "Share" option, whether for a document you have created, or to save an attachment in an email or text, choose "Save to device" if you want the document stored internally on your iPad.

Take a look a the resources below.  I've highlighted some key information here for you.  Click on the link for complete details.

iPad User Guide - Use iCloud Drive

iCloud Drive is built into the Files app, so you can easily store files there and access them from all your devices. You can also invite others to collaborate with you on files in iCloud Drive, by giving them permission to view or edit the files.

You can use iCloud Drive on iOS devices (iOS 8 or later), Mac computers (OS X 10.10 or later), and PCs (iCloud for Windows 5 or later or Windows 7 or later). To access iCloud Drive, you must be signed in to iCloud using your Apple ID. Storage limits are subject to your iCloud storage plan.

Set up iCloud Drive. Go to Settings > [your name] > iCloud, then turn on iCloud Drive.

Choose which apps use iCloud Drive. Go to Settings > [your name] > iCloud. Below the control showing that iCloud Drive is turned on, a list shows which apps support iCloud Drive. Turn each app on or off.

Open a file in another app. Touch and hold a file in iCloud Drive, tap Share, then choose an option.

Take care.

Hi Dizang. FileExplorer can directly access Windows shared folders (SMB shares) over the network.

Google Drive, or another cloud server, as suggested, is a good option, provided you always have internet access. It's not so handy if you spend a lot of time offline. Still useful as a backup option, of course.

Howdy vizslagal,

If you're curious as to what the various types of content are represented by the various categories in the storage breakdown for your iPhone in iTunes, we've a handy outline, provided below.

Here's a list of the types of content on your iOS device, and what each type includes:

  • Audio: Songs, audio podcasts, audiobooks, voice memos, and ringtones.
  • Video: Movies, music videos, and TV shows.
  • Photos: Content in your Photo Library, Camera Roll, and Photo Stream.
  • Apps: Installed apps. The content of the apps is listed under Documents & Data.
  • Books: iBooks books, audio books, and PDF files.
  • Documents & Data: Safari Offline Reading List, files stored within installed apps, and app content like contacts, calendars, messages, and emails (and their attachments).
  • Other: Settings, Siri voices, system data, and cached files.
How to check the storage on your iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch

Cheers!

With the first document open, choose New off the File menu, or Open off the File menu, and another, unique document window opens, partially overlapping the first window.

Drag it to where it is not overlapping and resize, and you should be there. click in the window you want to modify at this instant.

OR select two Pages documents in the finder and choose Open.

Is this a trick question? Am I missing something?
