My iPhone 7 is frozen with the message "allow this device to access photos and videos" on the screen. Will not allow a reboot of any kind. Any suggestions?

The .Trashes folder contains a subfolder for each account. One of them corresponds to yours, and it can be directly accessed through the Go to Folder command described above without any permission issues.

Hi Guys, got this issue resolved.

It seems as if the route had been added before on an old VPN connection and needed to be deleted.

What you need:

- A successful connection to the VPN

- "VPN IP address" - Go to System Preferences>Network and click on your VPN connection (under status it should show IP)

- "Server IP" - the server IP address on the VPN network you cannot connect to (possibly file server)

How to find the interface name and add the route:

- I need to get the interface name of my VPN by running the following command

                                   netstat -nr -f inet

- Identify your "VPN IP address" (the "interface name" is under the "netif" column e.g. utunx, pppx, enx)

- Route the server you cannot connect to through the VPN connection with the following command

Sudo route add -host "Server IP" -interface “interface name”

- Check the newly added route and ensure it goes to the correct interface

                              Route get "Server IP"

Example:

sudo route add -host 192.168.0.10 -interface utun1

Hi !

I believe that I solved everything today.
As you suggested, my weird/monochrome terminal was actually the normal state. As a coder I had only known the colors and perks of the previous one (it was installed as soon as I started to code), so I thought there was a problem, but there wasn't. The colors and other nice things, like better path display, were due to oh-my-zish.

What I think happened is that I had two problems happen: something with the PATH, I don't know why, possibly because of rbenv, which you helped solve, and then it was just the normal terminal, with o-m-z installed but for some reason not working (Note: it's possible that it was o-m-z's failure that caused the PATH problem, I don't know enough to say).

Today, I installed rvm to download rails without needing to sudo gem it ; and then uninstalled and re-installed (beautiful) oh-my-zish, as I had reasons to believe that it was actually the thing causing terminal niceness. It worked perfectly.
If you don't use it and are wondering why your terminal looks sad, I highly recommend it. I was also told bash-it was nice.

Thank you both deeply for your help, @rccharles, @BobHarris.

By default, when an application is successfully downloaded and installed, it should appear as an icon in the macOS' Application folder.

You can get to this folder using the Finder app, as follows:

  • Click on the Desktop screen and you should find the Finder menu bar at the top.
  • Click on File > New Finder Window
  • On the left-side of the Finder window, under Favorites, you should find Applications.
  • Click on Applications, and the contents of the Application folder should appear on the right-side.
  • Search for your Microsoft Office application icons here.
  • When you find the one you want, just double-click on it to run that app.

Since Apple specifically says to *not* put photo library on a NAS, I guess not.

But I have now read that if you have entered the passcode when the Face ID has failed it can learn your face if it has similar features

That makes sense.  Certainly you would not give your passcode to someone that you did not want to have access.  If a person is permitted to use the passcode, why not also allow face recognition?

Having said all that, I kinda wonder what would happen if you change your mind and change the passcode?  Does the phone know which face is YOURS?  Or maybe, all faces are cancelled and you have to set it up again?  Ordinarily I'd test it but face recognition doesn't work too well on my iPhone-7.
