Does Mac OS X v10.6 Snow Leopard support exFAT files?

Does Mac OS X v10.6 Snow Leopard support exFAT files. I've just purchased a new SONY 4K camcorder, model FDR-AX33. In order to download these files the instruction manual in SONY indicates that the computer must support exFAT files. I don't know how to find out? Where to look? SONY's online support does tell me how I can download these movies files to my iMAC, so I assumed it was compatible. Hope I'm not wrong.

For editing software I use both FCE 4 and iMovie 11. Thanks for any help given.
