MacBook OX 10.6.8, 2.66 Ghz IntelCore !7,Memory 8 GB 1067 Mhz DDR3,Safari 5.1.10(653459.10).

Recent issue. Many websites will not open. Message “Safari browser out of date”. I check for updates using Apple icon on toolbar and software always up to date.

Not certain how to correct. I could open many of the same sites 4 days a go. Thank you for any help.

Banks and other sites have recently moved to exclude Browsers that do not support the latest encryption methods. The old methods seem too insecure.

Safari 5 will not be supported because it only provides this out-dated encryption method. In 10.6.8, the version of Safari is tied to the MacOS capabilities, and cannot be upgraded separately.

if this is your Mac:

it can be upgrade to the latest version of MacOS, 10.11 ElCapitan. ElCapitan is currently available for download, on sale for $0.

You can also change to the latest Mozilla Firefox Browser, which does not require a later Mac OS to support it, but will only be available until about August.
