Will historic photo stream pictures on iMac from previous phones be lost if I set up Apple photo library

Hi,

Wanting to move to iCloud Photo library after various iPhones over the years have shared photo streams to iMac And iPads.

I am am confused whether if I activate this on the iMac these phone originated pics are at original full resolution and, whether they will be safely pushed to iCloud Photo Library, or whether because they originated from a photo stream “ push” they might be lost?

Also, should I switch this on iMac first, then phone then iPad ? Wondered if process detects camera roll as the original and original res version and stores just that in event of a duplicate.

Appreciate any thoughts,

thanks

Steve

Get info on some and check - only you have access to that information on your photos

whether they will be safely pushed to iCloud Photo Library,

When you enable iCloud Photo Library everything in your library is synced to iCloud so if your photos are in your library then they are synced no matter what their source

Probably makes sense to sync each IOS device in order then sync the Mac (the Mac sync is the slowest and longest one)

Any exact duplicates are detected and only one is kept - and the originals are all on iCloud, each device is independent as to whether it downloads the originals or optimized versions
