My MacBook Pro acts as if the Option key is pressed. I don’t think that it is a hardware issue because I had changed the internal keyboard few months back for a totally different issue (broken shift key) and I tried a live USB Linux. It works fine when booted in Ubuntu Live USB.  So I was thinking it might be something related to Mac OS itself. Can anyone please share what might be the issue and confirm if its a software issue as internal keyboard is working fine with a different OS(unable to test with Windows as no space to install) ?

I have lot of data in my laptop and can’t go for clean install of Mac OS if I do a Time Machine backup I fear the problem might be copied. So did not try it.

Hi Ahit,

I understand that your MacBook Pro acts as though your option key is pressed when using macOS on your MacBook Pro. I'm happy to provide some help for this issue.

Based on the troubleshooting you've tried already, I recommend that you try to reset your SMC:
