how do i get outlook calendar invites to save to my apple calendar?

I have seen references to accomplishing this, but I can't seem to find a way to get Outlook meeting invitations to automatically get saved to my Apple Calendar.

Is there a way to do this and if so, would it be possible to get step-by-step instructions?

The .ics file is the invite. It would appear that the web-browser version of iCloud cannot automatically process these and you therefore need to process it in Mail on your Mac. It it still the same file when opened on your Mac and once opened and added to your Calendar should show up in your web-browser Calendar as well presuming you add it to the correct calendar in Calendar. (You can set which calendar is the default one in Calendar preferences on your Mac.)

Hmm, just logged in to my iCloud account via the web-browser, there is a 'notifications' icon at the bottom of the window next to the day/week/month choices. If you click on that it may list any invites it has found attached to emails in the same iCloud email account.

You should also check your iCloud calendar settings (in the web-browser interface) by going to the same Calendar screen and clicking on the gear symbol in the bottom-left corner of the window.
