Corrupted incoming mail server settings for Gmail account

After upgrading to El Capitan, Mail was working fine, but then stopped working for my Gmail account after some restarts of the Mail app and maybe a system restart. I found that my outgoing mail server settings were not correct, so I fixed those. Others have reported about that.

I have another problem, however. My Incoming Mail Server settings for the Gmail account are corrupted. Instead of imap.gmail.com, the Incoming Mail Server settings are imap.mindspring.com. Probably related is that I had my return email address set to my mindspring email while sending from the Gmail account.

That field is locked for editing. How do I fix it? I don't want to delete the mail account and completely recreate. I'm quite comfortable doing low-level stuff if anyone has some command-line or other type of fixes.

Thanks for any help.

Awesome. AppleScript to the rescue:

tell application "Mail" to set server name of account "GMail" to "imap.gmail.com"

and done.
